David Moore, Ph.D., is a Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, holding academic positions in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Program in Integrative Molecular and Biomedical Sciences, Program in Developmental Biology, and Molecular and Human Genetics. He also serves as a Professor in the USDA/ARS Children's Nutrition Research Center and as a Faculty Senator. He holds the prestigious R. P. Doherty, Jr. Welch Chair in Science. His research focuses on nuclear hormone receptors, particularly their roles in metabolism, cancer, and liver biology.
Dr. Moore earned his AB from Brown University (1974) and his PhD from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (1979). His work explores the functions of receptors like CAR and FXR, which regulate metabolic pathways and oncogenic processes. Key areas include bile acid signaling, liver regeneration, and the Hippo pathway's role in tumorigenesis.
His research has led to insights into antidiabetic pathways, circadian rhythms affecting metabolism, and therapeutic approaches for liver diseases. He is affiliated with the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center and contributes to collaborative initiatives in biomedical sciences.
