Bingning Dong is an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Molecular & Cellular Biology and the Department of Medicine. Their research focuses on the regulation of liver metabolism and cancer development, particularly investigating metabolic reprogramming in liver cancer, the role of hepatic macrophages in diabetes and liver cancer, and discovering therapeutic targets for chronic liver diseases such as NAFLD and NASH.
Education: PhD from Baylor College of Medicine.
Research interests span liver metabolism, immunology, and cancer biology, with a focus on vitamin D receptor activation, bile acid signaling, and cellular mechanisms of metabolic disorders. Recent work highlights therapeutic potential in metabolic reprogramming and immune modulation.
Funding includes an NCI R37 Merit Award (2021–2028), CPRIT grants for NAFLD-related HCC research (2020–2022), and an AASLD Pinnacle Research Award in Liver Research (2018–2021). Additionally, they received a Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center Pilot Grant (2019–2020).
Key collaborations involve the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Department of Molecular & Cellular Biology. Research activities include animal models of liver disease, molecular pharmacology, and translational approaches to cancer therapy.
