Dr. David Mitchell serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Northeastern University London since its founding in 2012 as New College of the Humanities. He leads undergraduate courses in Ethics, Ancient Philosophy, and Political Philosophy, and coordinates MA programs in History of Ethics and Political Philosophy. His research focuses on ethics, social/political philosophy, ancient philosophy, and international development. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and convenes the Ottoline Club research group.
Education includes a BA and DPhil from Oxford (Literae Humaniores and Philosophy), and an MSc in Development Studies (LSE, 2009). His work bridges philosophy, international development, and musicology, with recent publications on institutional corruption and mental imagery disorders. He teaches Greek/Latin classes extra-curricularly and is authoring a book on corruption concepts.
Recent conference contributions address moralism and anti-corruption (Granada, 2023) and corruption in practices (Italy, 2023). His interdisciplinary approach integrates Western philosophical history with contemporary development challenges.
