David Miele is an Associate Professor and Program Director in the Counseling, Developmental & Educational Psychology (CDEP) department at Boston College's Lynch School of Education and Human Development. His research focuses on self-regulated learning, metacognition, and motivation, particularly how student beliefs influence academic engagement. He leads the Motivation, Metacognition, and Learning (MML) Lab and has received grants from the Institute of Education Sciences (2019-2023) and the James S. McDonnell Foundation (2016-2027).
Education: Ph.D. (Northwestern University), M.S. (Northwestern University), M.A. and B.A. (Columbia University).
Research interests include individual differences in metacognition, parent/teacher beliefs, and formative education. He serves on editorial boards for Journal of Educational Psychology and Educational Psychologist.
