Dr. David Matuskey is an Associate Professor of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging at Yale University, with secondary appointments in the departments of Neurology and Psychiatry. He serves as Director of the NeuroPET Imaging Program and Medical Director of the Yale Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Center. His research focuses on translational molecular neuroimaging studies to elucidate brain pathologies in conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, substance abuse, and Parkinson's disease.
His work spans PET imaging of neuroreceptors (dopamine D3, serotonin 1B/6, mGluR5, kappa opioid systems), neuroinflammation, and synaptic density (SV2A) across clinical and non-clinical populations. Recent studies have highlighted sex differences in neuroimmune deficits among individuals with alcohol use disorder, HDAC6 suppression in PTSD and AUD, and synaptic density alterations in neurodegenerative conditions.
Dr. Matuskey has received prestigious awards including the NARSAD Young Investigator Award (2018, 2010), Michael Kuhar Travel Award (2011), and NIDA-ISAM Travel Fellowship (2011). He actively contributes to clinical trials as Principal Investigator for 'Meditation and Synaptic Density' and Sub Investigator for studies on schizophrenia, HIV-related brain connections, and cortisol metabolism imaging.
