معرفی
Dr. David MacManus is an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at University College Dublin (UCD). He holds a BAI from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD from UCD, focusing on biomechanics and soft tissue mechanics. His research primarily investigates traumatic brain injury (TBI), biomechanics of soft tissues, and computational modeling of injuries. He leads the BRAIN Lab at UCD, focusing on unraveling the biomechanics of TBI. MacManus has secured significant grants, including an ERC Starting Grant (2024) and a Science Foundation Ireland Industry Fellowship (2018). He has extensive teaching experience, coordinating modules in manufacturing engineering and supervising PhD research. His academic contributions span over 29 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing biomechanical studies of brain, liver, and spinal tissues.
Education: BAI in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering (Trinity College Dublin), PhD in Mechanical Engineering (UCD). Awards: Broberg Medal (2017), ERC Starting Grant (2024). Teaching: Coordinates Manufacturing Engineering modules and supervises PhD candidates. Research: BRAIN Lab explores TBI biomechanics; recent work includes animal surrogate studies for human brain tissue mechanics and finite element modeling of spinal cord injuries.
