David M. Tiede

David M. Tiede is a Senior Chemist and group leader at Argonne National Laboratory's Division of Chemical Sciences and Engineering. He leads the Photosynthesis group, focusing on natural and artificial photosynthesis for solar energy conversion. His research spans solar fuels, water-splitting electrocatalysis, and advanced X-ray techniques for structural dynamics studies.

• Education: B.A. in Biology (1973) and Ph.D. in Biochemistry (1978) from the University of Pennsylvania.

He has been affiliated with the Argonne-Northwestern Solar Energy Research (ANSER) Center (2007-2018) and the Argonne-led Advanced Materials for Energy-Water Systems (AMEWS) partnership since 2018. His work integrates molecular and synthetic systems for energy applications.
