David M. Gershenson

David M. Gershenson, M.D., is a Clinical Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and The University of Texas Medical School. He holds a joint appointment as Professor at McGowan Medical School, UT Memorial Hermann. His research focuses on rare ovarian cancers, particularly low-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (LGSOC), and has pioneered advancements in clinical and translational research. Key contributions include developing the WHO-adopted binary histologic grading system for serous carcinoma (2004), leading the Gynecologic Oncology Group’s Rare Tumor Committee (2005–2018), and co-chairing pivotal clinical trials such as GOG 281/LOGS (published in The Lancet, 2022).
