معرفی
Charlie Gourley is a Professor of Medical Oncology and Honorary Consultant at the University of Edinburgh, leading the Nicola Murray Centre for Ovarian Cancer Research and serving as Clinical Director of the Cancer Research UK Scotland Centre. He holds academic appointments including Senior Lecturer (2005), Reader (2011), and Professor (2012). His expertise spans clinical and translational research in ovarian cancer, with a focus on genomic characterization, biomarker discovery, and clinical trial leadership.
Education:
- BSc in Genetics, University of Glasgow (1991)
- MBChB Medicine, University of Glasgow (1994)
- PhD in Ovarian Cancer Genetics, University of Edinburgh (2005)
Research Interests: Prof. Gourley’s work centers on ovarian cancer genomics, including whole-genome sequencing of Scottish tumors, exomic sequencing of low-grade serous carcinomas, and biomarker-driven clinical trials. He pioneered the SOLO1 trial, leading to olaparib’s approval for BRCA-mutant ovarian cancer, and co-led the GOG281/LOGS trial of trametinib in low-grade serous carcinoma.
Publications: His 2025 articles emphasize genomic instability, biomarker stratification (e.g., BRCA1/2 variants), and AI-driven histopathological analysis. Key themes include precision medicine, drug development for rare ovarian subtypes, and consensus-driven clinical guidelines.
Awards:
- NHS Education for Scotland Clinician Scientist Award (2005)
- Scottish Senior Clinical Fellowship (2010)
Labs/Teams: Directs multidisciplinary teams at the Nicola Murray Centre and CRUK Scotland, collaborating globally on trials like ENGOT-GYN2 and GOG281/LOGS. His research integrates clinical and genomic data to advance treatment strategies for ovarian cancer subtypes.
