David Lichtman

David Lichtman is a Lecturer in Real Estate Development and Design at the University of California, Berkeley. He concurrently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Banking Officer at Bank of San Francisco, overseeing daily operations for business, individual, and nonprofit clients. His career spans over 35 years in commercial banking, including leadership roles at First Republic Bank as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer managing a $170B loan portfolio.

Education: MBA in Real Estate from UC Berkeley-Haas School of Business (with concentration in Real Estate) and BA in Economics from Vassar College (graduated with honors).

Research interests focus on real estate finance mechanisms, capital market dynamics, and the intersection of banking practices with urban development. His teaching includes courses on foundational principles of real estate development finance (RDEV 220) and real estate capital markets (RDEV 235).

Community involvement includes board roles at Leadership High School, Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, and mentorship programs with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Megan Furth Academy.
