David Kuhn is an Assistant Professor at the Lawrence and Kristina Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University. An accomplished artist and animator with over 16 years of experience in film and television, he has worked at major studios such as Warner Bros. and Walt Disney Animation Studios, contributing to iconic projects including Pocahontas, Hercules, and Fantasia 2000.
- Education: Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television Production from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts
Kuhn brings extensive industry expertise to his academic role, specializing in animation, storytelling, and character-driven narratives. His teaching focuses on helping students develop compelling stories and believable character performances through emotion and personality. He previously served as a professor and chair of animation at Laguna College of Art & Design for over 12 years and taught in the animation department at California State University Long Beach.
As a practitioner, Kuhn has worked on character animation for films and TV series such as The Tigger Movie, Meeko, and Hades, as well as running his own commercial animation studio. His experience spans 2D and 3D animation, layout artistry, and digital media production.
