Professor David Kirk is a Professor of Education and former Head of the School of Education (2014-2017) at the University of Strathclyde. He also holds an Honorary Professorship in Human Movement Studies at the University of Queensland. His research focuses on curriculum innovation, curriculum history, and physical education pedagogy. Kirk is founding editor of Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy and editor of Routledge Studies in Physical Education and Youth Sport.

Research Interests: Curriculum development, critical pedagogies, sport policy, and global educational reforms. Notable recent publications include works on China's curriculum reforms, Chile's education reshaping, and gendered movement learning in sports.

- Principal Investigator for 'Literacies for Health and Life Skills' (2020-2023)
- Mentor for 'Female Sports Fandom in the North East' study (2016-2021)
- Co-investigator on 'Autism Network Scotland' (2014-2021)
Awards: Recipient of the 2017 Best Paper Award from the American Educational Research Association and multiple prestigious fellowships. His work contributes to UN SDG 4 (Quality Education).
