David Kenneth Smith, D.M., is a Professor of Music at Geneva College (Beaver Falls, PA) and former faculty member at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). His expertise centers on vocal performance, pedagogy, and art song literature, with a focus on historical composers like Clara Schumann and Ivor Gurney.

Smith teaches studio voice, vocal literature, diction, and music theory at Geneva College, alongside directing musical productions. His performance history spans operatic roles (e.g., Don Ramiro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola) and recitals focusing on Schumann, Mendelssohn, and sacred music. He co-directed the 2007 Broadway Revue and staged operatic workshops at Geneva College.
Current projects include course revisions integrating new technologies, psalm versification for church music, interpretive analysis of Ivor Gurney’s songs, and maintaining the websites Ivor Gurney.net and ClaraSchumann.net.
