David Jones

David Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Secondary Mathematics Education at the University of the West of England. He joined UWE in July 2021 and is responsible for tutoring PGCE Mathematics students while teaching undergraduate mathematics education modules.

His research focuses on teacher agency, autonomy, and strategies for recruiting, training, and retaining excellent mathematics teachers. He is currently pursuing an Ed.D. to explore in-service training and autonomy of mathematics teachers.

Prior to his role at UWE, David accumulated nearly 20 years of teaching experience in secondary schools, including pastoral and departmental leadership roles. He has collaborated with external agencies on the Curriculum for Wales as a member of the Mathematics and Numeracy Area of Learning and Experience (AoLE) Network, contributing to educational policy and curriculum design.

His expertise spans Mathematics Education, Numeracy, Teacher Training, Curriculum Development, and Educational Leadership, informed by his extensive practical experience in education.
