David Håkansson

David Håkansson is a Professor of the Swedish language at Uppsala University's Department of Nordic Languages. His research focuses on linguistic variation and change from both contemporary and historical perspectives, with a particular emphasis on Swedish syntax and Nordic linguistics.

• Diachronic syntax of Scandinavian languages
• Clause order evolution in Swedish history
• Expletive constructions and negation structures
• Stylistic analysis of literary Swedish
• Language policy and academic discourse

As a supervisor, he has guided doctoral students including Solveig Malmsten, Mikael Kalm, Adrian Sangfelt, and Adam Horn af Åminne. He currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Languages and editor of Language & Style.
