David Hirsh is a Professor of Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London, specializing in contemporary antisemitism, crimes against humanity, and totalitarianism. He holds a BSc from City University, an MA from the University of Warwick, and a PhD from the same university. His research critiques antizionism and explores intersections between antisemitism and political movements. Notable works include Contemporary Left Antisemitism (2017) and Law against Genocide (2003, winner of the Philip Abrams Prize).
Teaching focuses on criminology, human rights, and 'Crimes against Humanity.' He has acted as an expert witness in antisemitism-related legal cases and co-convened the European Sociological Association’s Research Network 31 on Racism, Antisemitism, and Ethnic Relations. His recent studies examine correlations between antisemitism, conspiracy theories, and higher education demographics.
Awards include the British Sociological Association’s Philip Abrams Prize. Research extends to global forums against antisemitism and analyses of Labour Party internal dynamics. Supervises PhD students and actively contributes to academic and policy debates on antisemitism.
