Menachem Z. Rosensaft is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell University and a Lecturer-in-Law at Columbia Law School. He is also General Counsel Emeritus of the World Jewish Congress, where he served until August 31, 2023, and a prolific writer on Holocaust remembrance, Jewish identity, and the intersection of law with historical and ethical issues.
His career spans roles as a litigator at New York law firms, general counsel of a major financial services firm, and advocate for Holocaust survivors. He has organized landmark protests against Holocaust denial and contributed to international human rights efforts, including the deportation of Nazi war criminals and recognition of Israel by the Palestine Liberation Organization.
Scientific and academic recognition includes:
- Honorary PhD from the University of Tuzla (2023), for his work combating genocide denial and promoting remembrance.
His publications include:
- Burning Psalms: Confronting Adonai after Auschwitz (2025), a reimagining of biblical psalms through the lens of Holocaust trauma.
- Poems Born in Bergen-Belsen (2021).
- God, Faith & Identity from the Ashes (2015), an edited volume on post-Holocaust Jewish identity.
He teaches a course on Antisemitism and the Law at Cornell and speaks publicly on topics ranging from Holocaust education to contemporary antisemitism in university settings.
