David Hill, PsyD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Health Psychology at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He focuses on the intersection between mental health and the legal system, conducting forensic psychological assessments for lawyers, individuals, and organizations in criminal and civil proceedings.
- Education: Doctor of Philosophy (Pacific University, 2011), Master of Science in Psychology (Eastern Washington University, 2006), Bachelor of Arts (Gonzaga University, 2003)
His research interests include forensic mental health assessment, malingering, violence risk assessment, and psychopathy. He specializes in fitness to stand trial evaluations, criminal responsibility assessments, and expert testimony in Criminal Code Review Board hearings across Manitoba and British Columbia. Hill contributes to service and advocacy through his membership in the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) Criminal Justice Task Force, which authored a position paper advocating for psychologists' inclusion in legal assessments under Canada’s Criminal Code.
Hill has participated in grant-funded research and published in peer-reviewed journals. He teaches psychology and psychiatry residents, provides clinical supervision, and has presented at national and international conferences on forensic psychology advocacy. He is not currently accepting graduate students.
