David Hildebrand is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Colorado Denver, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His work focuses on the ethical and epistemic implications of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithmic systems. He has presented globally, including keynote speeches in Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, and Italy, addressing themes like technology's impact on autonomy, democracy, and education. His research bridges classical pragmatism (Dewey, Borgmann) with contemporary issues, emphasizing how technology shapes human experience, empathy, and democratic values.
Recent engagements include teaching philosophy of art and aesthetics at Ca' Foscari University (Venice, Italy) and presenting at the University of Bologna on preserving meaning in an algorithmic age. He co-hosted a campus-wide discussion on AI's future in education at CU Denver.
