David Hernández Uribe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago, within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on subduction-zone processes, metamorphic geology, and phase equilibria modeling. He employs computational and field-based methods to study metamorphism's role in seismicity, magmatism, and mass transfer in convergent margins.
Education: Ph.D. in Geology from Colorado School of Mines (2020), M.S. in Geological Sciences from Central Washington University (2017), and a Licenciatura en Ingeniería Geológica from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (2015).

He investigates exhumed metamorphic terranes in Mexico, Guatemala, and the southwestern U.S., using thermodynamic modeling and fieldwork.
