David Gaumont-Guay

Dr. David Gaumont-Guay was a Professor in the Biology Department at Vancouver Island University (VIU) from 2007 until his passing in 2016. He dedicated his career to teaching and research in ecology, botany, and fostering independent scientific inquiry. Despite battling leukemia for eight years, he remained committed to his academic roles until his death on April 16, 2016.

A scholarship in his name, the Dr. David Gaumont-Guay Endowment Fund, supports graduating Biology students demonstrating excellence in his core areas of focus: ecology, botany, and research. Recipients also exemplify his passion for outdoor adventures and curiosity-driven scientific exploration.
