David Galley is the Course Leader for Social Work at Solent University and an Associate Head in the Department of Social Sciences and Nursing. He holds a PhD in Social Work from Bournemouth University (2020) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA, 2021). His research focuses on gender and sexuality within social work, social work education, the language of social work, and human development across the life-course. He has taught since 2011 at Bournemouth University and since 2016 at Solent University, leading modules on law, ethics, and social policy.
His publications explore male social work students' experiences, pandemic challenges in social work education, and gender diversity in the profession. He has been an external examiner for social work programs and actively participates in professional networks like the British Association of Social Workers.
Awards include his PhD and SFHEA distinction. He contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goal on education and has organized conferences/workshops to advance social work pedagogy and practice.
