India Lawton is a Lecturer and Deputy Head (Education) in the Art and Music Department at Solent University, where she has been employed since 2016. She teaches and coordinates modules across courses like Photography, Prosthetics and Special Effects, and Interior Design. She holds a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and is pursuing a part-time practice-based photography PhD at Solent University.

Research Interests: Lawton’s work explores trauma, family history, and the visualization of personal and collective experiences. Her photographic practice has been exhibited globally, addressing themes such as childbirth narratives, hyperacusis, and community histories. Her current PhD focuses on trauma and photographic practice.
Publications & Exhibitions: Her 2024 works include an article on childbirth narratives, an abstract on hyperacusis, and the exhibition The Woods. Earlier works include Lineage (2016) and Southampton Artists Pop Up Late (2016).
Awards: Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
Professional Activities: Lawton has participated in 19 academic activities, including the Birth Trauma Summit (2023), British Art Show 8 (2017), and peer-review roles. She is also a member of the Philosophy of Education Society GB (2023–2024).
