Nina Sverdvik is a Senior Lecturer in Photography and Course Leader at Southampton Solent University, affiliated with the Art, Environment and Social Change school. She also serves as an External Examiner at Bath Spa University's Bath School of Art, Film and Media (2025–2029). Her research focuses on contemporary portraiture, narrative theory in photography, subjective time perception, and memory/space dynamics in Northern European cinema.

Her work explores intersections between art, urban environments, and cultural identity. Notable projects include My Father’s Car (commissioned by Film and Video Umbrella, 2017) and Serendipity (British Art Show 8 Fringe, 2016). Her installations have been exhibited globally, including at the National Portrait Gallery (London) and Humber Street Gallery (Hull City of Culture 2017).
Commissions include collaborations with Land Securities Trillium, The Grosvenor Estate, and Southampton City Council. Her practice integrates public art interventions with academic research, often addressing themes of memory, space, and cultural heritage.
