David Gale

David Gale is a Professor of Media Composition at the Guildhall School's Academic Studies department (Electronic & Produced Music). He is an EMMY award-winning composer known for scoring hundreds of hours of television, including the Emmy-winning BBC series Days That Shook the World and BAFTA-nominated Simon Schama’s Power of Art. His work spans TV, film, video games, and library albums, with a focus on factual/documentary formats.

• Education: Studied trombone at Guildhall School in the late 1980s.

His research interests include electronic music production, jazz-influenced instrumental studies (e.g., his Jazz FX books now part of ABRSM/Trinity Guildhall syllabuses), and music technology. He contributes regularly to Sound on Sound magazine and is passionate about synthesizers and electronic instrument integration in scoring.
