David Fee

David Fee serves as a Research Professor at the Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), where he leads cutting-edge research in volcano infrasound and seismology. His work integrates infrasound and seismic data to characterize volcanic eruptions and other explosive phenomena, with significant contributions to hazard mitigation in remote regions. Fee directs the Wilson Alaska Technical Center (WATC) and serves as the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) Coordinating Scientist.

His research interests focus on volcano infrasound propagation, seismic monitoring, and nuclear treaty verification. Fee's work bridges geophysics and atmospheric science, examining how volcanic eruptions can illuminate atmospheric properties while developing methods for remote eruption detection. Recent projects emphasize machine learning applications for analyzing infrasound data from explosions and eruptions worldwide.
