David Duong, MD, is an Instructor in Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and an Instructor in Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. His work focuses on improving primary healthcare systems, particularly in Vietnam, through public-private partnerships and collaborations. He serves as the Associate Director of Partnerships and Health Systems for the Partnership for Health Advancement in Vietnam, a Harvard Medical School Global Program. Clinically, he practices at the BWH Phyllis Jen Center.
Dr. Duong graduated from Harvard Medical School and is dedicated to global primary care innovation, medical education reform, and pandemic preparedness. He has been recognized as a World Health Organization Young Leader in Primary Care (2018), a member of the World Economic Forum’s 2020 Future Council for Health, and a 2020 Presidential Leadership Scholar.
Research Interests:
- Primary healthcare delivery systems in low-resource settings
- Global health equity and universal health coverage
- Viral hepatitis care and patient journey mapping
- Tele-education and collaborative healthcare models
- Medical education reform in Vietnam
His recent work emphasizes integrating human and animal health data for pandemic preparedness, leveraging technology (e.g., LLMs) for elderly care, and strengthening cardiovascular care in rural clinics through tele-education. He collaborates on global initiatives like the Lancet Global Health Commission on person-centered care and the ECHO+ program.
Advising & Grants: Mentors Harvard Medical School students. His research is supported by programs such as the Partnership for Health Advancement in Vietnam and the Primary Care 2030 initiative.
