David Davies is a Professor of Philosophy at McGill University since 1987, specializing in the Philosophy of Art, Metaphysics, and Philosophy of Language. He holds a PhD from the University of Western Ontario (1987), following a BA from Wadham College, Oxford (1970) and an MA from the University of Manitoba (1979). His research focuses on metaphysical and epistemological issues in art, including literature, film, music, and performance. He directs the annual Dubrovnik Philosophy of Science conference and co-founded the Philosophy of Art conference in Dubrovnik (2012). He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (2015) and served as President of the American Society for Aesthetics (2021–2023).
