David Currow is an Adjunct Professor of Palliative Medicine at ImPACCT within the Faculty of Health at the University of Technology Sydney. He concurrently serves as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President at the University of Wollongong, bringing extensive leadership experience in academic administration.
His research focuses on:
- Chronic breathlessness pathophysiology and management
- Phase II-IV clinical trials in palliative care
- Population-based healthcare planning
- Evidence-based palliative care frameworks
Professor Currow's recent articles primarily investigate respiratory symptom management in chronic conditions, opioid safety profiles, and healthcare communication challenges. His work demonstrates consistent focus on pharmacological interventions for COPD and methodological rigor in clinical trial design.
He has led major initiatives including the Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative (randomizing >1800 patients) and co-founded the Australian Palliative Care Outcomes Collaborative. His research has been funded by NHMRC and NIH.
