Dr David Clark is a Lecturer at the School of Life Sciences, University of Essex. His work integrates computational, microbial, and ecological approaches to advance understanding of environmental systems.
- PhD Microbiology (University of Essex, 2017)
- BSc Biological Sciences (University of Essex, 2013)
Research interests span microbial ecology, quantitative ecology, and bioinformatics. He specializes in:
- Nitrogen and methane cycling in aquatic systems
- Microbial community dynamics in extreme environments
- Environmental DNA analysis for biodiversity assessment
- Climate change impacts on high-latitude ecosystems
Recent publications focus on:
- Biogeochemical processes in river sediments
- Legacy effects of oil spills on bacterial communities
- CO₂ enrichment impacts on mycorrhizal fungi
- Statistical modeling of microbial distance-decay relationships
Supervision includes MSc students Katarina Stanka and Benjamin Robert Mott. Current grants involve partnerships with Innovate UK and Northumbrian Water Limited for applied ecological research.
