معرفی
David Charlton is the Poynting Professor of Physics at the University of Birmingham's School of Physics and Astronomy. He leads experimental research on electroweak symmetry breaking mechanisms with the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN's LHC. His roles include former Spokesperson (2013–2017), Deputy Spokesperson, and Physics Coordinator of ATLAS. He contributed to detector systems like the ATLAS Semiconductor Tracker (SCT) and the L1Calo trigger system. His work spans Higgs boson studies, gauge-boson scattering, and precision electroweak measurements from LEP to the LHC.
Research Interests:
- Experimental tests of electroweak symmetry breaking
- Higgs boson properties and decay modes
- High-energy proton-proton collisions analysis
- Detector systems for particle physics experiments
Professional Recognition:
- Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS)
Current Focus: Developing trigger algorithms for the LHC's upcoming mid-2030s upgrade.
