David Carpentier is a doctoral student in Political Science and Lecturer at the School of Political Studies, University of Ottawa. His research focuses on integration policies for immigrants and intercultural living in Quebec and Brussels, critiquing interculturalism's role in addressing systemic racism and nationalism. He holds a Master's (2020) and Bachelor's (2018) in Political Science from UQAM, where his thesis won the Prix du livre politique and the Governor General's Gold Medal. Current affiliations include the Intercultural Relations Research Lab and the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Diversity and Democracy.
Teaching: POL4545 - Comparative Politics: Identity Issues. Awards include the 2021 'Young Engaged Voices' competition grant. Research is funded by a Joseph-Armand-Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship (SSHRC). Recent publications analyze Quebec's intercultural policies, systemic racism critiques, and municipal integration practices.
