Professor David Boughey serves as the interim Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of the University of Exeter Business School (August 2023 – December 2024) and leads international accreditations (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) for the Business School. He previously held roles as Associate Dean for Education at Exeter and Head of the School of Strategy & International Business at Bristol Business School, UWE. His academic journey spans institutions including Royal Holloway University of London, Oxford, and the University of the West of England.

His research focuses on the British railway locomotive engineering industry up to the 1930s, analyzing organizational structures and firm strategies. He investigates how British railway firms operated globally, balancing internal manufacturing with export markets, and examines contemporary foreign investment patterns by British firms in international rail systems. This work bridges historical business practices and global economic dynamics.
Professor Boughey has contributed to education leadership, quality standards reviews, and institutional accreditation frameworks, emphasizing innovation in teaching and student experience enhancement.
