Professor David Barry is a faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He coordinates the Applied Sociology Practicum and the Certificate for Social Justice and Equity programs. His research focuses on environmental sociology, social change/movements, and the intersection of religion/spirituality with sacred-making processes.

- B.A. in Sociology and History from Albion College
Barry's work explores global identity formation, ethno-religious dynamics in post-communist contexts, and sustainability practices in end-of-life rituals. His recent publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to cultural identity and social policy.
His teaching focuses on applied sociology, social theory, and environmental sociology. He has received multiple university awards for teaching, scholarship, and service, including the 2021 University Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship, and Service Award.
