David Ashford is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Groningen, specializing in Modern English Literature and Culture. He holds a Doctorate in English Literature from the University of Cambridge (2014) and has previously held academic positions at the University of Surrey and City, University of London, where he contributed to launching new English departments. His research focuses on Modernism, Cultural Geography, Poetry, and Publishing, with notable works exploring topics like Promethean horror in literature and the cultural significance of the London Underground. Ashford also serves as General Editor of Contraband Books, an innovative poetry press.
Education: PhD in English Literature from the University of Cambridge (2014). Previous roles include Lecturer at the University of Surrey and City, University of London.
Research Interests: Modernism, Post-Modernism, Cultural Geography, Poetry, Imperialism, and Publishing.
