David Asbury serves as Associate Professor of Music at Southwestern University's College of Fine Arts, specializing in guitar performance, music theory, and music technology. With faculty tenure since 1992, he maintains an active dual career as performer and educator while directing studio instruction and specialized courses.
His research focuses on composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, with recent scholarly presentations for the Guitar Foundation of America. Performance activities include international engagements at Edinburgh's Just Festival and Palm Beach Atlantic University's Hispanic Heritage Festival, featuring environmentally themed works by contemporary composers including Diego Luzuriaga and Eduardo Martín. His recordings of Canciones Por La Vida and Sobre La Naturaleza cycles demonstrate commitment to expanding guitar-piano repertoire.
