David A. Stangeland is a Professor of Finance at the University of Manitoba's Asper School of Business, with academic leadership roles including Department Head of Accounting and Finance, Associate Dean of Programs and Administration, and Associate Dean of the Asper School of Business. His career spans over three decades, with sabbatical breaks and planned return post-2022. He holds a PhD and BComm from the University of Alberta and professional certifications as CPA, CMA.

He led development of the Asper School's Bloomberg Lab and contributed to curriculum reforms, including the Finance PhD and MSc programs. Teaching spans corporate finance, investment banking, and international finance at undergraduate, MBA, and PhD levels, with international teaching in Czech Republic, China, and Poland.
