Lynnette Purda is a Professor and Interim Dean at the Smith School of Business, Queen’s University. She holds the RBC Fellow of Finance designation and previously served as Associate Dean (Graduate Programs). Her expertise lies in corporate finance, governance, and fraud detection, with interdisciplinary research spanning accounting, law, and international business. Purda’s work has been published in top-tier journals such as Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of International Business Studies, and American Law and Economics Review.
Education: PhD in Finance from the Rotman School of Management (2003) and BComm (Honours) from the Asper School of Business (1996). She is a Chartered Financial Analyst with prior investment banking experience. Purda has supervised over 15 Masters and PhD students, contributing to academic and professional development in finance. Her research explores corporate debt policy, credit ratings, and corporate fraud, with recent work focusing on global philanthropy trends and consumer credit assessment in the digital age.
