Dr. David A. Osleger is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Geology at the University of California, Davis. His research focuses on sedimentology and stratigraphy, with expertise in paleoenvironmental reconstruction of carbonate platforms, ancient sea level change, and paleoclimate analysis from lake cores. He integrates field methods with geochemical techniques, such as Sr and C isotopic analyses, to study geological systems.
- Education: Ph.D. in Geology, Virginia Polytechnic Institute (1990)
His recent work emphasizes geoscience education and outreach, particularly for UC Davis undergraduates and geology majors. He has been recognized with the 2011-12 Undergraduate Distinguished Teaching Award from the UC Davis Academic Senate.
Past research projects include investigations of Cretaceous carbonates in northeastern Mexico, Cambrian ocean isotopic signatures, and paleo-precipitation histories derived from Lake Tahoe sediment cores. His current efforts prioritize educational initiatives alongside collaborative geological research.
