David Shackleford is an Associate Professor and leads the Biopharmaceutics section at the Centre for Drug Candidate Optimisation (CDCO), Monash University. He holds a postdoctoral background from the Department of Pharmaceutics at Monash University following studies at the University of South Australia.
His research focuses on pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, and ADME lead optimisation with applications in antimicrobial and antiparasitic drug development. Key projects include discovering novel antimalarials, developing GPCR-targeted therapeutics for heart failure, and optimising therapies for polycystic kidney disease (PKD).
Recent work spans proteasome inhibitors for malaria, antimicrobial resistance studies, and preclinical candidates for visceral leishmaniasis. His projects involve collaborations with global researchers and institutions, aligning with UN SDGs related to good health and well-being.
