Dave Glidden is a Researcher at the University of California San Francisco, specializing in the prevention and treatment of HIV infection. He has contributed to pivotal studies on HIV prevention, including the iPrEx trial for oral PrEP, and developed statistical methodologies for handling complex data in resource-limited settings. His collaborations span neurology, pediatrics, LGBT health, and nephrology, and he actively teaches in his department's MCR and Ph.D. programs.
- Education: BA in Statistics (UC Berkeley, 1988), PhD in Biostatistics (University of Washington, 1993), Fellowship in Biostatistics (Harvard University, 1995)
Glidden’s research focuses on statistical methods for clinical trials, pharmacologic markers of PrEP exposure, and outcomes of HIV treatment. He advocates for innovative trial designs and global PrEP scale-up, while addressing challenges like clustering, competing risks, and informative censoring in observational studies.
His recent publications highlight trends in long-acting antiretroviral therapy, digital health equity, and the intersection of HIV with SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and post-acute sequelae. He has secured multiple NIH grants to advance these areas, including projects on novel PrEP agents and bone/metabolic effects of chemoprophylaxis.
- Scientific Awards: W.W. Stout Fellowship, Graduate Fellowship Award, National Research Service Award, Outstanding Student Citation in Biostatistics (University of Washington), TICR Award for Excellence in Teaching
