Dave Dee's research centers on the intersections of sport, identity, and ethnicity in modern Britain. He explores how sport functioned as a site of integration, resistance, and cultural negotiation for minority communities, especially British Jews. His work spans topics such as anti-Semitism in golf, Jewish participation in boxing and football, Sabbath observance versus sport, and the role of sport in anti-fascist activism. He employs interdisciplinary methods drawing from social, cultural, and political history.
The recent publications reflect a sustained focus on British Jewish history and sport, with recurring themes of identity formation, discrimination, and cultural belonging. His articles appear in top journals such as European Judaism, Immigrants and Minorities, and Journal of Sport History, demonstrating consistent scholarly output in the fields of sport history and ethnic studies. The forthcoming monograph on British boxing and minorities extends this trajectory into broader migrant experiences.
