Darryl Zuckerman, MD, is an Associate Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale School of Medicine with over 30 years of experience in interventional radiology. His academic appointment is in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, where he specializes in vascular and interventional radiology, with particular focus on the Smilow Interventional Oncology Program.
Dr. Zuckerman completed his medical education at SUNY Upstate College of Medicine, earning his MD degree, and received his undergraduate degree in Biology from New York University. His clinical training includes residencies at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center (1985 and 1989) followed by a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital (1990).
His research focuses on image-guided minimally invasive treatments for various conditions including hepatocellular carcinoma, gastrointestinal neoplasms, pleural diseases, urologic neoplasms, uterine hemorrhage, and varicocele. He utilizes techniques such as percutaneous microwave ablation for tumor destruction and arterial embolization to block blood supply to tumors. His clinical interests extend to vascular abnormalities, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter procedures, and preparing patients for dialysis through AV fistula creation.
Dr. Zuckerman has authored or co-authored several dozen peer-reviewed manuscripts spanning nearly three decades of research. His publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to interventional radiology, with recent work focusing on procedural complications, oncology applications, and vascular interventions. His research often involves multicenter clinical trials where he has served as a site primary investigator.

Active in national radiology organizations, Dr. Zuckerman currently chairs the exam development committee of the American Board of Radiology. Throughout his career, he has participated extensively in the training of residents, fellows, and medical students, reflecting his commitment to academic medicine and the next generation of radiologists.
