Jeffrey Forris Beecham Chick

Dr. Jeffrey Forris Beecham Chick is a Professor of Clinical Radiology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He serves as Chief of the Interventional Radiology Division in the Department of Radiology at Keck Medicine of USC and Program Director of the Independent Interventional Radiology Residency Program. Dr. Chick sees patients at multiple USC-affiliated hospitals including USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Keck Hospital of USC, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, and USC Arcadia Hospital.

Dr. Chick completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Harvard University's Brigham and Women's Hospital and his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Pennsylvania's Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is board-certified in both diagnostic and interventional radiology.

Dr. Chick is widely recognized as a national and international expert in vascular and interventional radiology with clinical expertise spanning venous thromboembolic disease, deep vein thrombosis, superior vena cava syndrome, venous occlusive disease, pulmonary embolism, endovascular thrombectomy, venous recanalization and stent reconstruction, complex inferior vena cava filter removal, lymphatic imaging and interventions, and interventional radiology-operated endoscopy. His research extends into operational efficiency, resource utilization, and process improvement within interventional radiology, as well as social media in medicine, physician burnout, moral injury, wellness, professional fulfillment, and medical malpractice.

Analysis of Dr. Chick's recent publications reveals a strong focus on venous interventions, particularly thrombectomy techniques and devices, with significant contributions to lymphatic interventions, chylothorax management, and venous stent technology. His work spans clinical applications, technical innovations, and broader topics like physician wellness and AI in interventional radiology, demonstrating both technical expertise and thought leadership in the field.

Prior to joining USC, he held key leadership roles at the University of Michigan as Vice Quality Assurance and Safety Officer and Director of Interventional Oncology, and at the University of Washington where he served as Associate Chief of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Program Director of the Interventional Radiology Residency, Director of Research, and Director of Venous Interventions. He is also an investigator on numerous clinical trials and holds leadership positions across national societies.
