Darren Ray Sana

Darren Ray Sana, M.Ed. is a Lecturer at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, teaching interdisciplinary courses focused on Philippine Food, Music, Rituals, and Philippine Literature in English. He also works as a Special Education teacher at Wai’anae High School.

• Education: Bachelor of Arts in Photography and Philippine Language and Literature (University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa), Master of Education (Chaminade University)

Research and Teaching Focus: Darren integrates cultural education with Filipino community engagement. His work emphasizes Philippine diaspora studies, language preservation, and cultural rituals, often through experiential learning.

Community Involvement: He co-founded Himig ng Katipunan, a language learner support group, and served as a Historian for the Katipunan Club. He previously volunteered in the FIL4Kids Program at the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu.
