Dario Diviani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, University of Lausanne (UNIL). He leads a research group focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying heart hypertrophy and failure, with a particular emphasis on AKAP proteins and G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). He has been a faculty member at UNIL since 2003, progressing from assistant professor to associate professor in 2014, and served as head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology (2018–2019) before becoming deputy director of the Department of Biomedical Sciences in 2020.
- Bachelor of Science in Biology, University of Lausanne (1989–1993)
- Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Lausanne (1998)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, Vollum Institute, Portland, Oregon, USA (2001)
His research investigates how AKAP proteins regulate protein kinase A (PKA) signaling and GPCR-induced pathways in cardiomyocytes, contributing to pathological changes in gene expression and cytoskeletal structure during cardiac stress. These studies are critical for understanding the molecular basis of heart disease and developing novel therapeutic strategies using small interfering molecules to modulate AKAP-Lbc signaling cascades.
Dario Diviani has consistently secured funding from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), Novartis Foundation, and Emma Muschamp Foundation. His work has been published in leading journals such as EMBO Journal, PNAS, and Molecular and Cellular Biology, reflecting high scientific impact in the field of cardiac pathophysiology.
He has received no explicitly mentioned scientific awards in the provided text.
Dario Diviani is deeply committed to education, teaching pharmacology and toxicology to biology and medical biology students, developing a biostatistics and bioinformatics seminar, and instructing in cardiovascular pharmacology for medical students. He has supervised eleven doctoral students and holds leadership roles in the FBM Doctoral School Board, Cardiovascular Metabolism Program, Research Commission, and Faculty Council. He is also an active member of the Swiss Society of Pharmacology, American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the European Society of Cardiology.
He leads the Dario Diviani Research Group at UNIL, which focuses on intracellular signaling in cardiac pathology, cytoskeletal dynamics, and translational applications in heart disease and cancer.
