Darin Johnson is a Professor of Law at Howard University School of Law, where he advises the Howard Human & Civil Rights Law Review Journals. He has held visiting, adjunct, and lecturer roles at George Washington University Law School, Georgetown University Law Center, Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and American University Washington College of Law.
Johnson earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School (2000) and a B.A. from Yale University (1997), where he served as an Executive Editor of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review.
His research focuses on constitutional reform, reconciliation, and the rule of law in post-conflict and transitioning states. He provides legal expertise through his role as a Senior Peace Fellow with the Public International Law and Policy Group and consultancy work. His publications analyze post-conflict transitions in Sudan, Libya, Yemen, and the Arab Spring nations.
Recent trends in his scholarship include international accountability mechanisms (e.g., for Sudan), transnational white supremacist terrorism, foreign election interference, and non-state actors in conflict. He has contributed to debates on U.S. civil rights and educational equity.

He has also contributed to the American Society of International Law (ASIL) as a member of its Executive Council and Co-Chairperson of the BASIL Presidential Task Force.
