Dr. Daria Kuss is an Associate Professor in Psychology at the School of Social Sciences, Nottingham Trent University. She leads the Cyberpsychology Research Group and is part of the International Gaming Research Unit. Her roles include teaching, research supervision, and mentoring in the Psychology Department. Her research focuses on cyberpsychology, technology addiction, and mental health, with over 90 peer-reviewed publications and international collaborations. She advises governmental bodies like the UK Council for Internet Safety and has media features in major outlets.
Dr. Kuss holds a PhD from NTU, an MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience (specializing in Psychopathology), and an MA in Media Culture from Maastricht University. Her career includes prior roles at Birmingham City University and visiting positions at institutions in Spain, Netherlands, Croatia, and Germany. She is an editorial board member for journals like Addictive Behaviors and Psychopathology.
Her research explores technology's dual role in societal benefits and harms, including gaming disorder, social media impact, and online harassment. She investigates interventions, prevention strategies, and cross-cultural differences in technology use. Her work bridges clinical psychology, neuroscience, and media studies, with a focus on vulnerable populations like adolescents and women in gaming.
Collaborations span over 30 countries, including Australia, the USA, and South Korea. Funders include the British Academy, Leverhulme Trust, and EU Parliament. She organizes international conferences and provides expert consultancy on mental health, addiction, and digital harms.
