Darek "Oles" Oleszkiewicz is a Polish-American jazz bassist and educator currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Jazz Studies at the University of California, Irvine, within the Claire Trevor School of the Arts. He previously taught at California Institute of the Arts since 1992, where he studied under legendary bassist Charlie Haden. Oles has performed and recorded with over 80 compact discs, collaborating with iconic jazz artists such as Brad Mehldau, Pat Metheny, and Charles Lloyd.
