Lincoln Goines

Lincoln Goines serves as an Associate Professor in the Bass Department at Berklee College of Music, where he leverages decades of professional experience as an electric and acoustic bassist, composer, and author. His career bridges academic instruction and active performance in jazz and Latin music scenes.

His research and pedagogical focus centers on:

• Bass Performance techniques
• Afro-Cuban, Afro-Caribbean, and Brazilian rhythmic systems

Goines has performed and recorded with legendary artists including Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, Michael Brecker, and Paquito D'Rivera, while currently leading band projects like Saninde and the Franceschini/Goines/Ameen Trio. His scholarly contributions include coauthoring the influential book/DVD Funkifying the Clave: Afro-Cuban Grooves for Bass and Drums and contributing to The Collective Contemporary Styles Series.
